The Healing Phase Is Part of Your Work

Something changes when you start taking the healing phase as seriously as the treatment itself.

We're all taught the basics : avoid water, no picking, use the aftercare. We pass that on to our clients and consider it covered. But the healing phase is where your work actually resolves, and what happens in those two to six weeks is influenced by far more than whether or not your client remembered to apply balm.

Skin type matters enormously.

Oily skin heals differently, faster breakdown, more fading, occasionally patchy. Dry skin can over-retain and heal darker than expected. Combination skin can do both in different zones of the same brow. If you’re not accounting for this in how you work during the treatment, you’re leaving the result to chance.

Lifestyle factors matter too.

A client who exercises heavily every day, spends time in chlorinated water, or is going through hormonal changes will heal differently than someone whose routine is more settled. This isn’t a reason to turn clients away, it’s a reason to ask better questions during consultation and manage expectations properly before you start.

And then there’s the emotional side of healing, which is real and often under-addressed. The drop between fresh and healed results can be distressing for clients who weren’t fully prepared for it. When they message you in a panic at day five saying it’s all gone grey and flaky, that’s not a complication, that’s normal healing. But if they don’t know that, it becomes a crisis, for them and for you.

Part of your job is making sure they know what to expect at every stage. Not a paragraph in their aftercare sheet, a real conversation.

Show them healing progressions. Explain the timeline. Let them feel held through the process, not abandoned after they leave your studio.

The treatment ends when they walk out. The work doesn’t.
